Daniel Harms is an American writer, author, games designer, and librarian living in upstate New York.
His main interests are the works of H.P. Lovecraft, role-playing games and books of magic (fictional and real).
Harms is best known for the books The Encyclopedia Cthulhiana: A Guide to Lovecraftian Horror and The Necronomicon Files, as well as The Long-Lost Friend: A 19th Century American Grimoire.
Harms work has appeared in publications such as The Journal for the Academic Study of Magic, Abraxas, Fortean Times, and Paranoia. He was the originator of The Shadow Over Usenet, a detailed online discussion of the works of H. P. Lovecraft.
He was a lecturer on Lovecraft Circle literature and occult films and history, and his blog Papers Falling from an Attic Window provides commentary on these and other topics.
Harms's Cthulhu Mythos gaming material has appeared in dedicated journals such as The Unspeakable Oath, and in compendiums including Island of Ignorance: The Third Cthulhu Companion.
