This subject contains information from the "Lovecraft Circle" Myth Cycles, and while guided by HPL are not based on his work alone. Kingsport is a fictional town created by H. P. Lovecraft, an archaic seaside village in Massachusetts that serves as an integral part of Lovecraft Country.

Geography[]

North of Kingsport is a famous stretch of cliffs that break at the Kingsport Head for the mouth of the Miskatonic River before following the coast up just short of the Manuxet in Innsmouth. Other named cliffs include Father Neptune and The Causeway.

History[]

In the early 19th century, local fishermen sailed their sloops to Innsmouth, following rumours of fish swarming the harbour, but they never returned. (HPL: "The Shadow Over Innsmouth")

  • Water Street - The seafront home of the Terrible Old Man. (HPL: "The Terrible Old Man")
  • Ship Street - A road of tiny gambrel-roofed homes parallel to Water Street.

  • The Strange High House in the Mist - An infamous house atop Kingsport Head, visible from both Kingsport and the northern road into Innsmouth.

  • Granny Orne - an old woman who lives on Water Street.
  • Asenath Waite - A student at the Hall School who later moved to Arkham after marrying Edward Derby.
  • Thomas Olney - A professor who spent a summer in Kingsport.
