The first edition of The Disciples of Cthulhu was released in paperback format by DAW Books in 1976. It was edited by Edward P. Berglund, featured cover art by Karel Thole, and ran to a total of 288 pages. This edition was also translated into French (as Les adorateurs de Cthulhu) and German (as Cthulhu's Kinder).
